The FPV Garden Committee is soliciting contributions to help us replace the old greenhouse with a new, safer, polycarbonate structure. You can read their full letter by clicking on “Continue reading” below. The deadline for contributions is Oct. 4. Checks should be made out to “FPV Hospitality Committee/Garden Account” and delivered to Leslie Turek.
Dear FPV Resident:
As you may know, our old greenhouse had to be taken down this spring due to danger from broken glass.
The Board has agreed that we may replace the greenhouse if it can be funded by contributions from interested individuals. The new greenhouse would be made of a tough polycarbonate material which is nearly unbreakable and would not pose a danger.
Dave Clapp and Dave Clapp have researched costs and are recommending an 8’ x 12’ greenhouse (which is about half the size of our previous greenhouse). The greenhouse would have an automatic vent system that would keep heat from building up. Jason has offered to build benches to save us that additional cost. The total for the greenhouse and material required for footings is approximately $1500.
We would like to move quickly on this so the greenhouse can be ordered and assembled this fall and be ready for use in early spring. The garden committee has agreed to start the ball rolling by contributing $400 from past years’ surplus. We’re asking interested parties to please write a check (details below) for their contribution before Oct. 1. We will make a decision at that time, and either order the greenhouse or, if we don’t have enough interest, return all checks donated.
Checks should be made out to “FPV Hospitality Committee/Garden Account” with “Greenhouse Fund” noted on the check. They should be given or sent to Leslie Turek, 113 Chestnut Circle.
If you are interested in gardening at Farrar Pond Village, we hope you will donate to help us keep this asset to our community.
FPV Garden Committee.
