Two days of hard work from a bevy of helpers and the picking garden is now planted! Many thanks to Kathy Garner (Crew Chief), Mike Coppock, Susan Sugar, Sue Burt, Donna and Joe DiFranco, Diana Glendon, Bill Meyer, Debbi Miller, David Wright, Helen Rush, Helen Stoddard, Sally Mills Patnode, Betty Kimnach, and of course the indefatigable Cynthia Williams! The weeding, watering, and deadheading schedule will be distributed shortly to everyone participating.
The flowers we will be enjoying this year are ageratum ‘Blue Horizon’, angelonia purple and rose, asters, cosmos ‘Sonata’, gomphrena, lisanthus, marguerites ‘Vanilla Butterfly’, annual phlox, snapdragon ‘Rocket’ and ‘Solstice’, assorted sunflowers, zinnias ‘Benary’, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘State Fair’, and Cactus, and verbena bonnasarius. Veggies include arugula, mesclun mix, Swiss chard, yellow zucchini, summer squash, bush cucumbers, red and yellow peppers, assorted tomatoes (Super Steak, Super Fantastic, Supersonic, Big Beef and Fourth of July), plus rosemary, thyme, curly parsley and basil.
